Hydration Myths Debunked

Hydration Myths Debunked

There’s quite a bit of confusion surrounding hydration. Let’s clear it up and keep you hydrated!

Myth – More products means more hydration

Sometimes more is not more. All those products you apply may be for not if one of them is pore-clogging. Clogged pores are not able to properly absorb hydration so make sure your skincare is non comedogenic (non pore-clogging).

Myth – Moisturizers are the only way to hydrate your skin.

Your skin has three primary layers that all need hydration. While moisturizers primarily hydrate and safeguard the outermost layer, it's essential to ensure hydration penetrates all layers for optimal function.

Serums, which are lighter in consistency than moisturizers, can effectively target deeper layers of the skin. For example, our Aquaglow Hydrate Serum is formulated with potent ingredients like copper peptides and hyaluronic acid. These key components work synergistically to provide deep hydration and antioxidants, addressing skin concerns at a cellular level.

Myth – You can’t drink too much water.

Well actually you can. It’s called hyponatremia, also known as water toxicity and it is pretty serious. When you consume too much water, your sodium gets too low and your kidneys can’t properly flush out excess fluids. People with congestive heart failure, kidney failure, or Addison's disease are more susceptible to hyponatremia.

Stick to the recommended amount of water, which is taking ⅓ of your weight and drinking that number of ounces per day. This leads to our next myth…

Myth – Everyone needs 8 glasses of water per day.

Hydration needs vary from person to person because not every body is the same. Factors like body size and activity level impact the amount of water one needs.
